Friday Oct 07
The tour begins as the group will gather in Inverness County, Cape Breton Island are for a meet and greet with fellow tour participants as well as a buffet dinner.

Saturday Oct 8
After breakfast there would be a 45 minute orientation on what will be viewed and experienced during the next 12 days. We will then start at An Drochiad the local museum in Mabou. Then travel along the West Mabou road towards Port Hood arriving at the Celtic Music Interpretive Center .Learn about the various Cape Breton fiddlers in the exhibit room. Lunch at the Ceilidh Pub with live music. After lunch we will drive to Glencoe Mills and see the school house /dance hall where Buddy Mac Master played for so many years. Enjoy the beautiful back road scenery and hear about the Gaels of Glencoe. Enjoy perhaps the nicest panoramic view of Mabou. A lobster dinner tonight at the home of Ronnie Mac Eachen (tour director) and Bernadette Campbell. At supper we will be joined by Joey Beaton, an accomplished pianist who has an amazing knowledge of Cape Breton fiddle styles and the fiddlers themselves. Joey comes from a well-known and respected family of musicians known as “the Beaton’s of Mabou” and has played with most the well know fiddlers of the 20th century in Cape Breton. Few can explain the various fiddling and piano styles like Joey.  After supper a trip to West Mabou Dance with fiddle and piano player

Sunday October 9th 
This morning is a day of leisure and free time with nonetheless still many options. .Relax, or go for a walk on the Celtic Coastal trail, attend church or visit the local farmers market. After a group lunch people can decide how the rest of the day can unfold.  Sunday afternoon fiddle music at both the Red Shoe and Celtic music Interpretive Center are possibilities.  Celtic Colors Event in the evening.

Monday Oct 10th
We depart for the Glenora Distillery for a walkabout. The single malt distiller is home to the Famous Glen Breton whisky and is located in a gorgeous setting. We then move on to Inverness where we hear the rich and varied history of this coal mining town including a  stop at the now world famous Cabot Links golf course for a brief walk around. Following lunch in Inverness we will head to Broad cove and stop at the Saint Margaret’s of Scotland church. Lifelong parishioner and Broadcove resident Dougie Beaton will talk about growing up in the area and his family involvement with the famous Broad Cove concert which has been running since over half a century. We’ll touch on some of the Gaelic singers and musicians   graced the stage. We are also in the area of where the late respected author Alistair Mac Leod enjoyed spending his summers and was so connected to his local community.

Tuesday Oct 11
After breakfast we attend a morning very fun workshop on Cape Breton Step dancing and how it was so much part of Gaelic culture. We will then head to Margaree and have a visit and lunch with Carmen Mac Arthur and her neighbors. Carmen is a fluent Gaelic speaker who learned the language and lives on her operating farm. Scottsville and Southwest Margaree was a bastion for Gaelic speaker’s singers and musicians. Home to the bard Malcom Gillis this visit and lunch will delight with stories, songs and a lovely home cooked meal.  Celtic Colors event

 Wednesday Oct 12 
After breakfast we head of for the famous Cabot Trail. One of the most famous drives in the world it will be breathtaking this time of year. Our luncheon stop at the Rusty Anchor in Pleasant Bay will set the tone for a comfortable relaxing day of touring before we arrive at the Gaelic College in Englishtown. We’ll tour the grounds and see the great hall of the clans. Moving on we then proceed to beautiful Iona where we make ourselves at home for the next two nights. After supper we’ll hear from some people with ties to this location in central Cape Breton that was home to so many Gaels who arrived in the 19th century. In the immediate vicinity you find place names like Barra Glen, Castlebay, Boisdale and many more.

Thursday Oct 13 
In the morning we will visit the Highland Village in Iona .Highland Village Museum is an outdoor living history museum that tells the story of Gaelic settlement in Nova Scotia. Located on a stunning 43-acre property overlooking the majestic Bras d’Or Lakes in Iona, Nova Scotia, the heart of central Cape Breton. After lunch tour participants will be given some options for how they wish to spend the afternoon. Possibilities include a trip to Fortress Louisburg, shopping in Sydney or touring around local region including Castle bay, Barra Strait , Bosidale and more  The closing Cape Breton dinner will be at the Iona Inn followed by a Ceilidh in the bar/

Friday Oct 14
After breakfast we start to make our way to the Canso Causeway. We will pass through Little Narrows, and Whycocomagh for a short stop. We then continue on to Glendale area, home of some excellent musicians and the location of the famous Glendale “73” concert where 100 plus fiddlers assemble on stage. This area is home to well know fiddlers by the name of Mac Kay, Mac Donald and Mac Lellan .Learn about how some dedicated local people were moved to organize the gathering of so many fiddlers. Approaching the Causeway we leave Cape Breton and travel to Antigonish ,home of St FX university ,  then Arisaig , Knoydart, and  directly to Halifax for overnight .

Saturday Oct 15th 
Today is the last day of your tour to explore Halifax independently.
